Halloween Happiness

 Combing the neighborhood for Sweet Treats with Cousin B. So adorable how Boo takes on the Big Brother role with him. Love that.

And look who else was taking to the streets!! None other than Indiana Jones himself. Oh wait...on closer inspection is was just my Uncle G.

A neighborly Raven's Nest. Very Edgar Allen Poe-esque. Next to him (temporarily holding Percy's shield) is one half of the group "Black Eyed-P's". The other half was behind the lens taking these pics! My Aunt R. is next to half of the Black-Eyed P's.

After much traipsing the 'hood, we called it a night and headed for home (only to load up on sugar before attempting to wind down for school the next day). I know, something in the equation didn't add up. The boys think it was the part having to do with having school the next day!

The Crafty Reveal

Ok..so I just finished a quicky little project for a certain special someone in my life, who just happens to love Halloween. (Those of you who think you know who this person is, please don't tell him or her yet...as it is to be a surprise!) I plan to drop it off at the unnamed person's place of work, and make him/her wonder who it is from!!! I love surprising people! As long as it's good surprises, right?

Well, if you recall my post from a few days ago, you saw that I mentioned making a quick and easy craft with some of these little numbers...

This is the packaging they came in. It was so adorable, I knew it had to be repurposed!

So, I filled a pretty/scary brocade/skeleton treat bag from Michael's with candy corn and peanuts. (Note: I did cut about 3 inches off of the top of the bag to insure it would fit in the box and that the lid would close snugly.Then I tied it up with a pretty little ribbon (from Michael's as well).

I adhered down with glue dots (some 3-D glue dots) some of the pretty embellies that were originally housed in the box. The only item on the lid that is not from K and Company's adorable Halloween embellishment kit is the little owl (from Maya Road).

The embellishments are two sided, one side is blinged up a bit with glitter. That's the side that I used. :-)

Note: After the picture below was taken, I decided to add a "googly eye" to the left eye of the Jack-O-Lantern. (Just for the fun of it!)

The container houses, I would estimate, about 2 ounces of Halloween mix.

I can't wait to hear the stories that get started about "Who gave you that?" The person who receives it will probably get ribbed for having a "Secret Admirer!"

Happy crafting and Happy Halloween season everybody. As you can see,  this project was super do-able, super simple and super fast to make. The hardest part?  Refraining from sampling the goodies!

Woman's Day

I am a woman.

      Yesterday was a day.

So...I used said day to create this...

 Color is off as I shot these at night with what little artificial lighting I have in our basement hallway. The walls are actually yellow.

        
Got the idea while surfing the internet. Apparently this wreath is on the cover of October 2010 Woman's Day magazine. It wasn't difficult to make, nor expensive, just a little bit of time (~1.5 hours). This would be a great way to utilize your May Arts ribbon if your lucky enough to have a stash! I just grabbed a roll of Wally-World $2 black cutout webbing ribbon, some black gorilla duct tape, two bags of Brach's candy corn (I used about 1.75- the boys started nibbling on the rest,)my low temp glue gun, and a foam wreath from Michael's (use your  40% off coupons ladies and gents) and set to work. The boys enjoyed helping me and watching it all come together. The website recommended drying the candy out first for 7-10days and then adding a layer of Modge Podge to preserve the wreath for next year. I plan to just let it hang out to dry naturally and Modge Podge later. (I have no patience, you see!)
