Mick and I were pleasantly surprised at what our $29 seats bought us! When we looked at the seating chart, Section I wasn't even on it! So we were expecting to just listen to Sir Elton. We were apologizing to my cousin Holly and her hubby Mark, who went with us, joking that next time maybe they'd have better luck at getting good seats. And then we saw where our seats were. Um...wow! REALLY!? We just won the lottery! :)

A night to remember...always!

Tennis Art-Alfresco

So call me crazy (you wouldn't be the first nor the last) but we took our creating outdoors on Thursday amidst the blustery wind and cooler temps. Ethan had a blast creating his self portrait, (Which still needs to be trimmed out and adhered to a large canvas to hang in his room) however, not only was this art class but I think this should qualify as Phys. Ed. credit too, no? Have a look see.

 A few tempera paints...a sunny, mild day, a young boy with creative flair...

 Oh...no...THEY didn't!!!!!

 I'm loving how his watch coordinates with his new colorful epidermis!

 And just a splash of color on the hiney to prove that he really is masterful at his artform! :)

Drum Roll Please...

...or make that a set of head phones please! Mick and I totally surprised the boys this evening with a new-to-us drum set. I made up a story about how I needed to take them to tennis with me as Daddy was delayed getting home. (This gave Mick time to set everything up). When Mick didn't answer my calls after I finished tennis, I bought some more time by taking the boys out for a slushie and a sundae. Then when we got home, conveniently for us, severe weather was starting to brew, so I quickly told Mick that we should tell the boys they needed to bring the dogs in ASAP and get to the storm shelter immediately. While they were putting the dogs up, I grabbed my camera and hid out in a corner of the storm cellar and waited to capture these less-than-perfect-but-oh-so-precious-lovelies:

I am feeling the need for a few Calgon moments in my future...and, of course, a good set of headphones!
Sigh.

A gift of love and comfort from my library friends with whom I volunteer. So very thoughtful!

Received these DVD's I ordered earlier in the week. My sister Linda loved this show and always talked about it, and about how much she loved Lorelei. After watching the first 5 minutes of the first episode, I totally understood why. So many striking similar qualities as my sis. I'm savoring and cherishing each episode. Feel like my sis is there watching them along with me. Good stuff. :)

This is number two of two garter snakes Bella came across in our yard this weekend. Poor little fella stole back to his hiding spot for a reprieve from the four-legged menace!

Found these lovelies on our trip to Lowe's this afternoon. They are alstroemerias and were the type of flower my sister, Linda completed her Thesis/Dissertation on in Grad School at Colorado State University. Looking forward to watching them flourish.  My 4-Runner was filled to the rim with other botanical lovelies for our window boxes, potting soil, and sealers to fill the cracks in the driveway. Mick and I spent a few hours working in the yard and I enjoyed the fact that I was actually able to be outside and not be miserable from allergies today! A first in a long time. A really long time. Happy about that!

A Little Happy Mail

Just wanted to share a little happy mail I received from Elaine over at Freehand Scraps earlier this week. She has asked me to stay on as a regular member of the Freehand Scraps Design Team. I happy accepted and I am really looking forward to creating with future FHS kits!

In other daily details, Mick and Ethan and I ventured out on this beautifully mild and sunny day to look at trees and shrubery. I think I found the perfect memorial shrub for my sister, Linda. I had the idea to plant it just outside my scrapbook/schoolroom window, where I spend much of my days and my time (when I'm not out and about playing taxi driver to the family's activities-lol).

I'll post a pic of it once we have it here at the house and planted.
